What YEAR does

A focused search layer for selected media.

YEAR helps you search text inside selected screenshots/photos and spoken words inside selected videos, then open the matching screenshot or video moment.

Local-first selected media indexing

YEAR is designed around media you choose to index. It does not automatically build a full-library background index in v1.

No YEAR server media upload

YEAR does not upload your photos or videos to a YEAR server.

OCR via Apple Vision

Text inside selected screenshots and photos is processed with Apple Vision OCR.

Speech via Apple Speech framework

Video transcription uses Apple’s Speech framework and may depend on device, language, system settings, and availability.

Local storage

YEAR stores indexed text, thumbnails, and optional imported video cache locally on your device to support search and playback.

Clear Index / Clear Cache

You can clear your local search index and imported cache from Settings whenever you want.

No account in v1

YEAR does not require an account in v1. If you email support, your email is used to respond to your request.

No cloud sync in v1

YEAR does not offer cloud sync in v1. Searchable data is intended to stay in the app’s local storage on your device.
