Apple Health permission troubleshooting
BodySignal’s active sleep flow needs read access to sleep analysis, heart rate, and HRV.
- Open the Health app on iPhone.
- Tap your profile picture, then Apps and Services, then BodySignal.
- Review access for Sleep, Heart Rate, and Heart Rate Variability.
- Return to BodySignal and tap Check Again or retry Health access.
Apple does not tell apps exactly which Health read permission was denied, so BodySignal may need you to review the settings directly.
Why BodySignal needs at least 30 valid nights
The historical comparison requires at least 30 complete sleep nights and at least 10 nights in each timing group with sleeping heart-rate data. This prevents one unusual week or a very small comparison group from deciding the finding.
What counts as a valid night
A night may be excluded when sleep timing is missing, the sleep interval is invalid, recorded sleep is under 3 hours or over 12 hours, the main episode spans more than 16 hours, or Watch wear is too incomplete. BodySignal checks new nights automatically.
Missing or delayed Watch data
- Confirm that last night’s sleep appears in the Health app.
- Keep the iPhone and Apple Watch connected and allow time for Health sync.
- Confirm that sleep tracking and Wrist Detection are enabled.
- Charge the Watch enough to record the full night.
- Return to BodySignal and pull to refresh or tap Check Again.
BodySignal waits for the final assigned night to sync before calculating an experiment result.
Daily experiment answers
Use Followed, Did not follow, or No caffeine today. Illness and travel can be marked as skipped. A missed or skipped day is not treated as failure; it simply does not count toward the comparison.
Purchase options are unavailable
Check your internet connection and try loading the purchase options again. The experiment remains locked until the App Store returns a product and verifies the transaction. BodySignal never substitutes a local unlock for an unverified purchase.
Pending or cancelled purchase
A pending purchase unlocks only after the App Store confirms it. A cancelled purchase does not charge or unlock the experiment. You can retry later without losing your historical finding.
Restore purchases
On the BodySignal paywall, tap Restore Purchases. This checks the current Apple Account for an eligible One Sleep Experiment purchase or active BodySignal Founding Annual subscription.
Manage annual access
Manage or cancel BodySignal Founding Annual in iOS Settings under your Apple Account subscriptions. Changes are handled by Apple.
Delete local BodySignal data
Deleting BodySignal from your iPhone removes its locally stored history cache, findings, schedule, adherence, and results. Apple Health data remains in the Health app. App Store purchase history remains managed by Apple.
